The Hytrans FORU range

Hytrans offers a complete oil skimming solution consisting of the FORU-70 en FORU-340 oil skimmers. These are robust oil spill response systems with high efficiency and volumes ranging from 70 m3/h to 340 m3/h. All skimmers are made of durable polyethylene, marine-grade aluminium and stainless steel materials and are fast to deploy, easy to handle and clean.

High recovery capacity

The Hytrans FORU skimmers are the best in the world at cleaning up oil spills, also in rough weather. They are robust, easy to deploy and provide a high recovery capacity ratio of 75% to 100%. The simple weir type skimmers have no external moving parts, and can be operated by any skill level. It even self-adjusts without the use of a bellow.

The FORU-70 Storage and Deployment Container (DSC) is ideal to facilitate storage and support an efficient deployment as it includes all the tools you need for fast deployment and cleaning. Every container can be fitted with a workspace to offer even greater flexibility during deployment.

The FORU skimmers can be acquired with matching ancillary products like a FORU power-pack, booms & bladders and work boats. Through its high capacity the FORU can clean up the biggest and worst oil spills.

FORU-70


Small, agile and lightweight

The FORU-70 is the compact version of the FORU-340, specially designed for sensitive shallow parts such as the Wadden Sea in the Netherlands (UNESCO World Heritage) or for use in rivers, lakes, harbours and coastal environments.

Weighing only 75 kg, it is light enough to be carried by two people. Its shape allows it to float freely, becoming one with the waves and therefore able to function in harsh conditions. The toxic liquid is pumped into a storage facility such as a container, barge or bubble.

Powered by the HPU-18

The FORU-70 is powered by the HPU-18 or the HydroSub 60 hydraulic power pack . The HPU-18 is a versatile hydraulic power pack capable of delivering high performances in all types of oil spill situations. The control panel ensures that the skimmer operates reliably and very efficiently. A remote control is available as an option.

Approved by DNV GL

It is thoroughly tested by the Norwegian Coastal Administration test center in Horten in several types of oil and is approved by DNV GL. Working at maximum speed, the FORU-70 extracts up to 70 m3 of oil/water mixture per hour at max. 5 bar.

FORU-340


Our most robust skimmer

The FORU-340 is the flagship of the FORU product range, designed for coastal, offshore or arctic environments. This robust skimmer can recover large quantities of oil in record time, up to 340 m3/h. The toxic liquid will be pumped into a storage facility such as an oil tanker, barge or bladder.

Down-draft based technology

The simplicity of the design makes this skimmer very easy to use, maintain and clean. Just like the FORU-70, it has a down-draft based technology. Its shape it allows it to float freely and become one with the waves (up to 2,5 meters or 8.2 ft), ready to work in the most demanding conditions.

Easy to deploy

As no assembly is required prior to deployment, it can be deployed quickly. The FORU has been extensively tested with various typen of oil at the Norwegian Coastal Administration’s test centre in Horten, Norway.

Powered by the HPU-93

The FORU-340 is powered by the HPU-93 hydraulic power pack. It is a versatile hydraulic power pack capable of delivering high performances in all types of oil spill situations.

The engine of the HPU-93 is housed in a robust steel frame design to protect the components and ensure good operationof the unit. The frame is insulated for noise reduction to ensure quiet operation. Equipped with a central lifting ring and forklift channels, the HPU-93 is easy to transport on land and offshore.

The HPU-93 is 100% mechanical with a spring starter and mechanical oil based safety system that protects hydraulic oil level, oil temperature and engine temperature.

The control panel ensures that the skimmer operates failsafe and highly efficient.
